WIND ENERGY - ECONOMICS DO NOT ADD UP
-----------------------------
The truth about wind farms....

Nobody can dispute that there is a worldwide need to move towards alternative means of energy and reduce pollution; however more and more the true reality is dawning that wind power is not the answer, it is grossly ineffective, incredibly costly and counter-productive.

Unfortunately, our successive governments have agreed unobtainable renewable energy targets with the EU – targets that if not met will result in substantial ‘fines’ payable of course to the EU. This has led to wind farm developers and land owners being paid obscene government subsidies to erect wind turbines; they are even paid to have them turned off. An eye watering £100billion is likely to be paid in such subsidies in the next 18 years, which of course comes from our pockets and will lead quickly to massively increased electricity bills that will only get higher and higher. This will ultimately cripple business and our industry - manufacturers will simply leave the UK to find cheaper and a more reliable energy network.

Such are the pressures to achieve EU targets, and so massive are the financial rewards for developers and landowners, vast areas of the UK countryside are being decimated with far more horrors to follow; one recent consultation paper prepared for the new energy bill described the future UK countryside as being wind farm landscapes with even National Parks not being exempt.

Whilst the developers and landowners become extremely rich, it is not just the countryside and pockets of the general public that are impacted; those living even within sometimes miles of turbines suffer the noise and low frequency infrasound, houses prices plummet and some homes become unable to be sold.

Don’t also be fooled into believing that wind farms are ‘green’, their initial production and construction is far from that; also because they only operate for about 20% of the time the same number of existing power stations will still have to be constantly running 24/7 as back-up - so nothing saved – there are times when the turbines only turn by the electricity supplied from the national grid. The production of electricity using wind is 22 times more expensive than a conventional gas power station, but never mind the fooled public will pay!

Wind energy producers tell us Britain has about 3.9 Gigawatts of installed wind power; what they don’t say is that because the wind is not constant, our wind farms are as good as idle more than 75% of the time. Our nearest wind farm is state of the art Knabs Ridge which, since it opened, has never produced more than 16.5% of its full capacity.  In terms of power output, each Knabs Ridge turbine will generate enough electricity to power just 165 hairdryers. Don't forget - these are industrial installations which the developer claims make a major contribution to the National Grid.

On the left are some interesting links to recent videos and articles - these should be viewed as they well illustrate this disgraceful situation that the government ignores.
