It is hard to imagine the sheer enormity of wind turbines 415 ft high, this height being exaggerated by the fact that they will be positioned on elevated land; these will be total monsters - as previously pointed out they are 100 ft higher than those at Knabs Ridge, near Harrogate and some of the largest in the UK. Even when several miles away they will always appear to be close by; they will tower over trees and anything else that residents may currently mistakenly believe will shield them from the everlasting dominance over everything around them. Wind turbines are not always stationary, the blades rotate (sometimes!) and continually draw the eye away from other views. They look alien amid otherwise rural countryside.
Such is their size, each foundation will require in the region of 60 lorry loads of concrete; each single blade will weigh 7 tons and be the size of a large airliner. The construction of wind farms can last a year and will cause huge disruption to residents and visitors.
Accessed from the side links are images that will give just some indication of the turbine size. It should be noted that those surrounding the grade 2 listed Hutton Hall are actually in the distance, the nearest being 596 yds (545 mtr) away; they are positioned to give some indication on how they will really look when placed as planned.
Every effort has been taken to scale as accurately as possible, whether these are accurate will be left to your judgement.
